From Trail Enthusiasts to Wilderness Guides

Comet Mink began in 2009 when a group of experienced backcountry travelers realized that too many people were missing out on transformative wilderness experiences simply because they lacked the knowledge or confidence to venture beyond established campgrounds.

What started as informal weekend trips with friends of friends gradually evolved into a structured operation. We obtained permits, earned certifications, and built relationships with park authorities across multiple provinces. Today, we lead over forty expeditions annually, each one carefully planned to balance adventure with safety.

Our name comes from the mink, a resourceful creature perfectly adapted to both land and water environments. Like the mink, we navigate diverse terrains with confidence and help our guests do the same.

We practice and teach Leave No Trace principles rigorously. Every campsite we use should be indistinguishable from untouched wilderness when we depart. Our groups carry out all waste and avoid creating new trails or fire scars.

Wilderness should not be exclusive to elite athletes or wealthy hobbyists. We design expeditions across difficulty levels and maintain transparent pricing. Payment plans are available for longer trips.

Our guides pursue ongoing education in ecology, indigenous land history, emergency medicine, and outdoor pedagogy. We share this knowledge with guests, transforming trips into learning experiences.

Safety remains non-negotiable. Every guide carries satellite communication, comprehensive first aid supplies, and has completed scenario-based emergency training. We maintain conservative weather policies and are never afraid to adjust plans when conditions warrant.
